Barnala expresses shock at minister's death

Chennai, May 20 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today expressed deep shock over the demise of State Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P T R Palanivel Rajan.

In a condolence message here, he said Mr Rajan had held the office of the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and was well versed in English and Tamil.

He was known for his simplicity and was easily approachable, he said and added that ''I pray to the Almighty to rest his soul in peace.'' The Governor conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
