Assembly session summoned on Monday

Guwahati, May 20: Asom Governor Lt Gen(Retd) Ajoy Singh has convened the maiden session of the Asom Legislative Assembly here on Monday next.

Official sources said the Governor has also appointed MLA Govinda Chandra Langthasa as the Protem Speaker to conduct the first sitting of the Assembly on the said date.

The newly elected members of the Assembly will take their oath that day, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is expected to distribute portfolios to the new Cabinet colleagues on the same day.

A eighteen-member, two-tier Congress led coalition ministry headed by Tarun Gogoi took oath of office and secrecy here yesterday.
