Abducted OIL engineer rescued

Guwahati, May 20 (UNI) An OIL engineer abducted by ULFA militants in Tinsukia district of Upper Asom yesterday night was rescued in the wee hours today.

Official sources said drilling engineer K Mohan Rao of the Oil India Limited (OIL) was kidnapped by ULFA militants at about 2100 hours yesterday when he was on his way from Duliajan to Barakuri to attend night shift.

His driver was reported to have been let off.

The massive combing operations in the area by the army and the police led to Mr Rao's rescue at about 0400 hours, sources added.

Details of the cause of kidnapping are yet to be known.
