Three militants killed in north Kashmir

Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) Security forces killed three militants in a fierce encounter in the frontier district of Kupwara today, official sources said.

On a specific information, the security forces cordoned off Miryal forest area in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir early today, they said.

During the operation, the sources said the militants hiding in the forests opened fire on the search party.

The fire was effectively retaliated and in the fierce encounter, three militants were killed, they added.

The operation was still on when reports last came in.
