Several trauma centres to be set up along National Highways
New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The Government today said several trauma centres will be established along the Nationbal Highway under construction.
''We fully recognise the need of such facility along the highways and I am in touch with Health Minister A Ramadoss in this connection, Minister for Shipping and Transport T R Balu told the Rajya Sabha today.
He said full care will be taken of the safety aspects of the project.
Speed controllers will be provided on both sides of the road.
Besides there will be surveillance vehicles to prevent and keep track of any mishaps, he said.
The Minister was replying to supplementaries on a question regarding delay in the National Highway Project.
He said there was no delay in the work, and the project will be completed on schedule in 2008.
Mr Balu said that nearly 232 km of corridor needs realignment due to forested area, and 318 km of the highway was in the mountainous and difficult terrain in Jammu and Kashmir.
