Rs 192 crore plan for water, sewerage in NCR
Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) The National Capital Region Planning Board has approved a Rs 192.05 crore project for providing water supply in five towns and sewerage in eight towns falling in the NCR in Haryana.
Haryana Public Health Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters here today that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) had been signed between the state government and the Board on the basis of a performance guarantee.
He said both water supply and sewerage would be provided under the project in Rohtak, Rewari, Palwal, Sohna and Hodal towns while sewerage would be provided in Panipat, Gohana and Samalakha towns.
A sum of Rs 38.24 crore had ben sanctioned for the current financial year under the project, he said.
Besides, Mr Surjewala said a total of Rs 379 crore had been approved under the state plan and Central asssistance for water supply and sewerage facilities in the urban areas and improvement of water supply on the rural areas during 2006-07, showing an increase of 42 per cent over the previous fiscal.
