Kingston, Jamaica, May 18 (UNI) After last night's heavy shower, intermittent pitter-patter since this morning threatened to wash away the India-West Indies ODI series opener, even though the umpires have decided to come for another round of inspection at 2000 hrs at the Sabina Park here today.

There was always a cloud of doubt hovering over the match with forecast of heavy rains and worse, the met office doesn't foresee any change in the mood of the weather till Monday, which also puts a question mark on the fate of the second one dayer, scheduled here on Saturday.

The organisers are still hoping that the match, even if truncated, would eventually take place and the international standard drainage system at the stadium also helped their cause.

If weather permits and both Steve Bucknor and Asad Rauf are satisfied with the pitch condition, there is likelyhood of a shortened match.
