NIIFT to run Fashion Retail Management course

Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) Keeping in view the requirements of the mushrooming malls and multiplexes, the Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) has decided to launch a one-year certificate course in Fashion Retail Management from July this year.

''Malls, multiplexes and big shopping complexes need skilled manpower instead of the routine salesmen at their counters. The new course has been designed to cater to this demand, NIIFT excutive director Sanjay Kumar said while talking to reporters on the eve of the annual design collection show of the Mohali-based institute.

NIIFT director Vijay Sharma said the course would provide the students a comprehensive training in the new technologies used in malls and multiplexes besides giving them a proper understanding of the modern day customer.

The Mohali-based NIIFT, established in 1995, already offers courses in Fashion Design, Garment Manufacturing Technology, Knitwaer Design and Technology, Textile Design and Fashion Design and Clothing Technology.

Mr Kumar said with hundred per cent on campus placement of the students, the institute was getting more and more popular. It had to open examination centres in Patna, Jaipur and Lucknow in the previous academic session.
