Naga talks to begin in Amsterdam tomorrow
New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The Centre and the Naga insurgent group NSCN (IM) would hold a two-day meeting in Amsterdam from tomorrow to arrive at an ''honourable settlement'' to the Naga problem.
Union Minister Oscar Fernandes, who is the central government's pointsman for Naga talks, and interlocutor K Padmanabhaiah are leaving for the Netherlands to participate in the talks.
The NSCN(IM) delegation headed by it Chairman Isaac Chishi Swu and General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah have already reached there.
Talks are likely to focus on substantive issues crucial to the future of the Nagas. The charter of demands of NSCN(IM) would be deliberated, sources said here today.
The insurgent group has been demanding a clear government stand on the unification of Naga-inhabitated areas in the North East and an early and ''honourable'' settlement to the problem.
