N Rangasamy assumes office, accords 10 kg rice scheme
Pondicherry, May 18(UNI) Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy, who assumed office today signed the first file, to provide ten kg of free rice to all ration card holders in the Union Territory.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Rangasamy said the ten kg free rice scheme would be made available to all ration card holders every month. This would cost the goverment an additional exchequer of Rs 25 crore per year.
He also vowed to deliver a clean, transparent governance and added that all the promises given to the people would be fullfilled.
Adhering to a promise made, he also signed a file in that regard, which bear the entire fees of the students for MBBS and Engineering in private colleges selected through the centralised admission committee.
He added that the subsidy under the Kamarajar housing scheme would be enhanced to Rs One lakh.
Mr Rangasamy also thanked the people of Pondicherry for conducting a free and peaceful elections and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, leaders of the alliance partners for giving him yet another chance to serve the people as the Chief Minister.
