Sewatand, May 18 (UNI) Breaking his 24-hour fast over the issue of corruption, development and security of people, BJP vice-president and Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi today dealt a blow to the party announcing formally to resign from BJP's preliminary membership and give up his Lok Sabha seat.

Mr Marandi, who began his fast yesterday, was offered a glass of 'lassi' by a village elder this morning. He told reporters that he was soon going to launch a new regional party keeping in mind the interest of the state.

The proposed new political outfit would have no truck with national political parties, Mr Marandi said adding the name would be decided later on.

Meanwhile, State BJP Chief Jadunath Pandey said though Mr Marandi had submitted his resignation to the party high command the letter was yet to be accepted.

Mr Pandey told UNI in Ranchi that the party was constantly trying to bring him back to the party.

He is senior leader and respected by all, he said adding I have sent an emissary today to meet him where he was sitting on fast.

I will also personally meet him when he return to Ranchi and all efforts would be made to convince him to withdraw resignation.
