Malaysia offers 'Total Solution Package' for highways development
New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) Malaysia has proposed to provide ''Total Solution Package'' for developing some sections of National Highways, the government said today.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways K H Muniyappa said the offer was given during the visit of the Malaysian Minister of Works to India, provided the contracts were given to Malaysia on a government-to-government basis.
He said the Malaysian government had offered 'Total Solutions Package' for ten sections of National Highways, including the Amritsar-Chandigarh, Chennai-Bangalore, Chennai-Hyderabad, Bangalore-Kochi, Bangalore-Pune, Delhi-Kolkata, Delhi-Bhopal and Bangalore-Hyderabad stretches.
The remaining two stretches are Eastern Peripheral Expressway (outskirt of Delhi) and Durg-Nagpur.
The minister, however, denied that the Malaysian minister suggested some measures for development of a coherent traffic dispersal programme and efficient inter-city linkages.
