Maj Gen Deepak Raj takes over as GOC Bengal area

Kolkata, May 18 (UNI) Major General Deepak Raj has taken over as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Bengal Area.

Prior to this appointment made yesterday, was the Deputy Commandant at the prestigious Army War College.

Commissioned into 7 Mechanised Infantry (1 DOGRA) in 1971. Maj Gen Raj is an alumnus of the Defence Service Staff College and National Defence College and has held many important Staff, Instructional and Command posts.

He also commanded the 7th Mechanised Infantry Battalion, an Armoured Brigade and a Rapid Division and has been an instructor in Defence Service Staff College. He also held important posts in a Corps Headquarters was the Brigadier General Staff (Operations) in Command Headquarters earlier, defence sources here said.
