Junior doctors strike on in Gujarat, maintain emergency duty

Ahmedabad, May 18 (UNI) Even as junior doctors in government and municipal hospitals here are on strike in protest against the reservation policy for the second day today, they continued to man emergency duties.

There are over 300 junior doctors in civil Hospital and at four civic hospitals at Sheth Vadilal Sarabhai hospital, Laloobhai Gordhandas hospital, Shardaben and Nagri Eye Hospitals.

''The strike has affected the hospital's working, but not the emergency cases. Two junior doctors are on round-the-clock duty, including orthopaedic, gynaecology, paediatric and other sections,'' a striking doctor's spokesperson said.

A delegation of striking doctors is scheduled to meet State Health them are scheduled to meet State Health Minister I K Jadeja tonight and decide future course of action.
