Ranchi, May 18: Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) today warned that in view of the ''non-cooperating attitude '' of the state government for preparations of the 34th National Games, proposed to be held here next year, it would not allow state contingent to participate in the event despite hosting it.

Addressing a press conference here after a special meeting of the association, JOA president R K Anand alleged that the state government was not providing adequate funds to expedite the work for construction of infrastructural facilities, sports village and mega sports complex for the Games.

The state government was not doing anything about its long pending announcements for the construction of astro-turf stadia, swimming pool and providing kits and other equipment to the sportspersons, he said.

Anand said the goverment was not even replying to letters written by the sports bodies, adding, ''If it does not mend its ways, the JOA will only host the National Games but we will not let ourselves to be a laughing stock of others by allowing our teams to participate in it but perform in a dismal manner owing to lack of preparations despite having enough talent.'' To a query he said as per the host city contract of 34th National Games, the state government would have to pay a fine of Rs five crore if the Games were not held in 2007.
