Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the Vigilance Organisation's action regarding attaching the property of ''tainted'' Executive Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Nadaf.

The state government took the decision after hearing the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Vigilance Organisation and the accused as well, sources said.

The property of the accused was attached under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2006. The Act vests powers to the SSP to attach property of the accused officials subject to approval of the Vigilance Commissioner.

After getting the approval, the SSP attached the property.

However, under section 411 of the Act, the Vigilance Organisation has to refer the matter to the designate authority within 48 hours after attaching the property to get the approval of its action.

The designate authority, who according to the Act is Commissioner Secretary in the General Administrative Department, has to decide the matter within seven days after hearing both the parties.

The designate authority heard both the parties and then confirmed the action of the Vigilance Organisation, the sources said.
