Jammu, May 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Prof Nirmal Singh today demanded deployment of the Army in Doda, Udhampur, Rajouri and Poonch districts, alleging the failure of the civil administration in protecting civilian lives.
Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters here, Prof Singh said the state should be brought under the 'Disturbed Areas Act' and its security should be handed over to the Army.
''If the state government was incapable of providing security, the Centre should hand over the responsibility to the Army,'' he said.
''Repeated number of grenade attacks on BJP workers itself proves that the state government is allowing the designs of Pakistan to succeed, and make Doda bereft of the Hindu population,'' Prof Singh said.
Condemning the militant attack, he alleged that the state government has adopted a soft approach towards militants, in view of May 25 Round Table Conference in Srinagar.
