Household items exempted from VAT

Ranchi, May 18 (UNI) The Jharkhand government has decided to exempt household items from the purview of Value Added Tax(VAT), for an year.

The decision has been taken at a cabinet meeting held here yesterday.

According to an official spokesman the cabinet has also approved the first point taxation system on the maximum retail price in medicines amending the multi-taxation system.

The cabinet further approved the Jharkhand Backward Commission's proposal of including persons of Kyali community in the bacward category, he added.
