Jharkhand govt exempts household items from VAT

Ranchi, May 18 : The Jharkhand government has decided to exempt household items from the purview of Value Added Tax(VAT), for an year.

The decision has been taken at a cabinet meeting held here yesterday.

According to an official spokesman the cabinet has also approved the first point taxation system on the maximum retail price in medicines amending the multi-taxation system.

The cabinet further approved the Jharkhand Backward Commission's proposal of including persons of Kyali community in the bacward category, he added.
