Govt must overrule Censor Board on Da Vinci Code

New Delhi, May 18: Mr Shantharam Naik today urged the Government to ban the controversial film 'Da Vinci Code' for offending Christian sentiments as the Censor Board had refused to ban the film.

Raising the issue as a Zero Hour mentions, Mr Naik said the film, based on the popular novel with the same title, was against the sentiments of the Christian community and an offending fiction could not be permitted to be shown publicly.

However, when Censor Board chief Sharmila Tagore had issued a certificate disregarding the sentiments, the Government should step in and ban the film, said Mr Naik, an MP from the Christian dominated state of Goa.
