Ex-MP's Swagat Dwar from MPLAD gets the axe in Hamirpur

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The Government today said that only one instance of irregularity committed in the sign boards of local Members of Parliament under the MPLAD Scheme had been brought to its notice.

Denying that there had been several instances of irregularities committed under the scheme, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan informed the Rajya Sabha that the sole case which had come to attention was reported by Mr Rajnarayan Budholiya, MP from the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constitutency, alleging that 7 Swagat Dwars had been constructed out of the MPLADS funds of his predecessor Gangacharan Rajput.

It was stated that the former MP had inscribed his name on the structures. After a report was obtained from the District Magistrate, Hamirpur, instructions had been issued for immediate removal of the name of the former MP and recovery of the MPLADS fund utilised for the work, the Minister said in a written reply.

Further, the Secretary (Planning), Uttar Pradesh government, had been requested to intimate action taken against the officers found responsible for violation of the MPLAD guidelines, he added.
