Dutch prosecutors open match-fixing probe - paper
AMSTERDAM, May 18 (Reuters) Dutch prosecutors are investigating possible fixing of soccer games and bribery of players in the Netherlands, newspaper De Telegraaf reported today.
The paper quoted a spokeswoman at the prosecutors' office as saying that the investigation was focusing on fraud, adding that it was still in a early stage.
The paper said she declined to say which clubs were being investigated and in which leagues they were playing. Dutch prosecutors were not immediately available for comment.
The investigation was initiated after prosecutors discovered that some players' spending was not in line with their income, the paper said.
