Cong to tread cautiously regarding Jharkhand developments
New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) Describing the political developments in Jharkhand as serious, the Congress today expressed the apprehension that the Arjun Munda Government might resort to any tactics to remain in power and the situation was vulnerable in the state.
''The way former Chief Minister Babu Lal Marandi has resigned from the primary membership of the BJP and from the Lok Sabha indicates that more political developments are likely to take place there,'' Congress Spokesman Rajeev Shukla said, adding, '' the Congress will have to keep an eye on the developments.'' Briefing newsmen here, he said Arjun Munda had resorted to unfair means in the past to cling to power by himself disappearing from Ranchi and by taking away the party MLAs to some place outside the State capital.
Quoting Mr Marandi as having said Leader of the Opposition L K Advani had a nexus with terrorists, Mr Shukla said the BJP, the main Opposition, was getting weakened day by day and there was nothing left with the party except levelling baseless allegations.
''A rebellion is brewing from within the BJP.'' The party, he said, could not register its presence in the Assembly elections held in four states and a Union Territory, except Asom.
