Cognizance against DIG, Magadh range

Patna, May 18 (UNI) A local court today took cognizance against former commandant of BMP-10 Arvind Pandey, presently posted as DIG Magadh range, and four other policemen in a case of cheating, misapropriation and selling goods marked with a counterfeit property mark.

The judge directed the accused, including the DIG, to appear before the court on June 13.

The first class Judicial Magistrate of Patna took the cognizance after hearing a complaint case filed by the Assistant Secretary of Bihar Police Association, BMP-10 Patna Harendra Kumar Singh.

Besides Mr Pandey, other accused were Inspector (ARMS) BMP-10 Baban Ram, Sub-Inspectors Deonath Paswan, Radheshyam Singh and Hawaldar Ramadhar Ram.

According to the complaint petition, Mr Pandey, in conspiracy with the other accused, misappropriated Rs 1.73 lakh collected from the members of association in the name of opening a gas agency in the canteen. The DIG was also accused of selling cassettes and herebal products in canteen, marked with counterfeit property mark when he was posted as commandant BMP-10 during 2002-2004.
