Lucknow, May 18(UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today alleged that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre was targetting Jaya Bachachan as part of political vendetta.

''All the posts of profit of important persons were exempted through a new central legislation, but UP Film Development Council (UPFDC) was not included in the list which proves my point,'' he said.

Replying to the debate on motion of thanks to the governor's address in the state assembly, Mr Yadav claimed that Ms Bacchan had made a sacrifice after being disqualified as Rajya Sabha MP, following which such legislation was introduced by the Centre.

''It was unfortunate that Ambtabh and Jaya Bachachan, who have done lot for the country, were receiving such treatment,'' he noted.

''Keeping UPFDC out of the perview of the central legislature on post of profit, the Centre has shown its intention towards a family which has made contribution for the society and the country'' he added.

Commenting on the recent formation of a Morcha against the Samajwadi Party, Mr Yadav, without taking name of any individual, said such morcha would be rejected by the people as SP leaders are yet to go before the people in the wake of the coming assembly polls.

The UP CM also claimed that there was a huge number of people from other parties eager to join the SP.
