Cabinet clears draft environment policy

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The Union Cabinet tonight gave general clearance to the draft National Environment Policy aimed at checking rising pollution levels in various forms.

The policy will go back to the cabinet with an Action Taken Plan (ATP), Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told mediapersons after the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The cabinet also approved a grant in aid amounting up to Rs three crores to the city-based Sanskriti public school run by former civil servants.
