BJP calls for dissolution of MCD

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) Alleging that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has completely failed in discharging its responsibilities, the Delhi BJP today demanded immediate dissolution of the civic body.

Claiming MCD had become a den of corruption, BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan asked the Centre to hold fresh elections to MCD, a statement said.

The civic agency had failed to provide proper services in fields like education, health, sanitation, road construction, stopping illegal constructions and community services, it said.

The monsoon was coming but the MCD had not even started work to de-silt drains across the city, it added.

The Pradesh BJP President said there was rampant corruption prevailing in the MCD being ruled by the Congress. Many engineers had been suspended and the CBI is conducting enquiry against more than two dozen engineers and officers.

Many congress Councillors had been caught red handed while accepting bribe, he alleged.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said various courts had issued more than three dozen orders to the Congress-ruled Delhi government and MCD to implement development oriented schemes for the capital but to no avail.

He claimed the MCD had no concrete plans for the development of Delhi and was completely directionless.
