2.38 lakh LPG connection applicans on waitlist: Deora
New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) As many as 238,438 applicants for cooking gas (LPG) connection are on the waiting list, topped by Andhra Pradesh with 85,791 such persons, the government informed the Lok Sabha today.
Kerala and Tamil Nadu have the second and third largest number of LPG applicants with their number placed at 54,363 and 46,218 respectively, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora said in a written reply.
The states where there is no waiting list with the oil marketing companies (OMCs) are Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim and Uttaranchal, the Minister said.
The other states with pending lists are Arunachal Pradesh (364), Assam (6,410), Bihar (8,000), Delhi (13,674), Haryana (7,646), Karnataka (3,882), Manipur (699), Meghalaya (651), Mizoram (226), Nagaland (2,415), Tripura (1,803), Uttar Pradesh (5,146) and West Bengal (1,150).
