2 killed, 3 injured as tree falls on van
Mysore May 18 (UNI) Two persons from Kerala were crushed to death and three others injured when a huge tree fell on the van in which they travelling due to heavy rain in the city this evening.
Police said the mishap occurred when the van, carrying ten tourists from Kochi, was returning to Kerala from the city.
Several trees were uprooted as heavy rain, accompanied by gusty winds lashed the city since 1600 hrs. People were put to hardship as several low-lying areas were inundated.
Most parts of the city plunged into darkness as power supply was cut off as a precautionary measure.
The Mysore-Arsikere train was delayed by about two hours as a high tension wire fell on the railway track near Belagola.
