Zimbabwe thrash Canada by 143 runs in Tri-nation tourney
Dubai, May 17 (UNI) Zimbabwe put one foot in the tri-nation final with a massive 143-run rout of Canada in the opening match of the Series at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad, today.
Three run outs -- including the vital wickets of openers Geoffrey Barnett and skipper John Davison -- heralded a heavy defeat for the Canadians in the match.
Batting first, Zimbabwe reached 218 for seven with Piet Rinke (72) and Brendan Taylor (37) contributing with the bat. In reply, Canada were skittled out for a meagre 75, with Tawanda Mupariwa (3-30) and Blessing Mahwire (2-21) shining with the ball.
Rinke was adjudged Man-of-the-Match, according to an ICC release here today.
