Yamaha Motor plans to introduce new variants

Hyderabad, May 17: Targetting the trendy youth, Yamaha Motor India planned to introduce new variants of the 'executive' and 'economy' segments in the current year to ''double'' its volume and market share upto 15 per cent over the next 18 rpt 18 months.

Currently holding seven per cent of the motorbike market in Andhra Pradesh, the Company had planned a multi-pronged campaign to increase its business by 12 per cent from Rs 160-crore in 2006 and 15 per cent by 2007 upto Rs 200-crore.

The Company launched its latest offering 'Gladiator', a 120-cc four-stroke 'next generation fun bike' in the 'executive' segment with plans to sell one lakh vehicles all over the country in the next seven months.

Talking to newspersons here today Company's Regional Business Head (Karnataka and AP) Nagarajan Srikant said ''We will be introducing new variants and other models which are on drawing board.'', ''We are targetting young Indian customers for a higher share of the market'', Mr Srikant said adding that its 26 dealers and 100 sub-dealers Andhra Pradesh were being networked to leverage the ''dynamic sporty styling'' of ''Gladiator'' model. Currently the company sells 48000 plus vehicles in Andhra Pradesh where the motorbike segment is registering a 40 per cent growth.
