Wanted criminal gunned down in UP

Lucknow, May 17 (UNI) Police today gunned down a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head in an encounter in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh.

The slain criminal Raju alias Rajendra had 22 cases registered against him.

On a tip-off, Raju was intercepted at Chaukhada village in Bhira area this morning and killed in the ensuing encounter.

UP home department sources said here that two .315 bore countrymade pistols and live cartridges were recovered from the spot.
