SI convicted in bribery case

Hyderabad, May 17 (UNI) The Additional Judge for SPE and ACB cases has convicted and sentenced a Sub Inspector of Police in neighbouring Rangareddy District to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 2000 in a bribery case.

The judge said in default to pay the fine J Venkateswar Rao should undergo six months simple imprisonment.

Both the sentences would run concurrently, the judge said.

The ACB sleuths trapped Rao, when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 5000 for showing official favour, a release from ACB said here today.
