Seven nominated for Tripura award

Agartala, May 17 (UNI) Veteran Communist leader Bidya Debbarma, Sandiego University Profesor and former NASA Scientist Subrata Bhattacharjee, Arjun awardee Gymnast Kalpana Debnath are among the seven noted personalities who have been nominated for the special annual award of Tripura.

The award instituted by Agartala sports and cultural foundation will be handed over to the seven personalities at a colourful function at the Town Hall here on Saturday.

The other personalities who have been nominated are-- vocalist Rabi Nag, eminent child specialist Dr Bikash Roy, Mr Jyotiprakash Roychowdhury who is currently conducting a research on the butterflies of Tripura, and poetess Aparajita Roy.

Eminent vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan (Padmashree) will be present during the award giving ceremony.
