Rural bank employees strike on May 19

Sultanpur, May 17 (UNI) Rural bank employees and officers will strike work countrywide on May 19 to press for their six-point charter of demands.

The strike is being observed on a call given by the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association (AIRRBEA). About 70,000 employees and officers of 130 rural banks would be on strike.

Talking to newsmen here, AIRRBEA national secretary Shivkaran Dwivedi alleged that successive central government had weakened the banking system in rural areas.

The association will also take out a procession at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on May 22.
