Preparations made for second phase Bihar Panchayat election
Patna, May 17 (UNI) The Patna district administration has completed all preparations for tomorrow's second phase of Panchayat election.
District Magistarate B Rajendra and Senior Police Superintendent of Patna Kundan Krishnan told newspersons here today that the elections would be held in 269 polling booths under Dulhin Bazar block and in 181 booths under Paliganj block area.
Mr Rajendra and Mr Krishnan said all booths would be manned by jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF). The para military forces would patrol the poll bound areas.
They warned that the security forces would open fire on trouble makers and habitual offenders. Patrolling would be done by boats also, they added.
The district authorities said FIRs would be lodged against those candidates who were found indulging in malpractices like tearing ballot papers, pouring ink in ballot boxes and other poll related riggings, including violance. Their election to the Panchayati institutions would also be quashed if found guilty of committing the offences, they stated.
Meanwhile, repolling would be held in 39 booths of Dhanurura and five of Masaurhi tomorrow following poll irregularities and some 'technical defects'.
