NSCN-IM team leaves for Amsterdam
Kohima, May 17: A high-level five-member delegation of NSCN-IM left Dimapur to attend the crucial two-day Indo-Naga political talks at Amsterdam beginning tomorrow.
Ministry of information and publicity (MIP) Kilonser Maj. (Retd) Johny Dilbung in a statement here today said, ''The team led by Gen.
(retd) V. S. Atem , emissary to the collective leadership of NSCN-IM, Kilonser (Home Minister) A. Puni, along with Kilonsers A.P.Shimrah, Q. Tuccu and Tongmeth Wangnao yesterday left for Amsterdam.'' In the statement the NSCN-IM appealed to the people to remain aware of the situation and judiciously confront any eventuality by playing responsible roles and duties as honest Naga citizens.
The statement said, ''The talks were expected to focus upon substantive issues that would be crucial for the future of the Nagas as well as our relationship with India.'' The statement warned the Naga people against misleading propagandas.
