Militant gunned down by police

Imphal, May 17 (UNI) A suspected militant was killed today in an encounter with the police in Thoubal district.

Police said the encounter took place at Lamjao Mayai Leikai area.

The man was yet to be identified, police added.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, visited the district, which happens to be his home district, a few hours before the incident.
