MCX index closes at 2,392.63 down 6.44 pts

Mumbai, May 17 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 4,422.96 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2,392.63 down by 6.44 points (-0.27 per cent). The total trades registered were 58,991.

The MCX metal index closed at 2,906.79 up by 35.77 points (1.23 per cent), while MCX energy index closed at 2,643.79 down by 35.13 points (-1.33 per cent) and MCX agri index closed at 1,627.31 down by 19.97 (-1.23 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 3,397.53 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 2,316.95 crore and MCX silver Rs 1,080.58 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 35,681. The open interest for gold was 11,694 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 3,47,960 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 384.11 crore with 7,450 trades, while MCX aluminium recorded a turnover of Rs 24.42 crore with 792 trades MCX zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 144.82 crore with 1,479 trades, respectively.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 93.44 crore with open interest of 5,63,700 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows -- urad registered a turnover of Rs 11.93 crore with 103 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 41.32 crore with 795 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 12.15 crore with 467 trades, and masur registered a turnover of Rs 10.87 crore with 513 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 18.08 crore with 697 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 124.89 crore with 5,989 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 10,546 up by Rs 162 (1.54 per cent), while Aug closed at Rs 10,740 up by Rs 157 (1.46 per cent) and October closed at Rs 11,050 up by Rs 226 (2.05 per cent).

MCX Silver July 06 closed at Rs 21,381 up by Rs 247 (1.16 per cent), Sept closed at Rs 22,012 up by Rs 258 (1.17 per cent), Dec closed at Rs 22,638 up by Rs 574 (2.54 per cent).
