Home Ministry condemns Gadchiroli killings

New Delhi, May 17 : The Home Ministry tonight condemned the civilian killings in Gadchiroli in Maharashtra, and said such barbaric act of violence is contrary to all norms of democratic and rule-based society.

''We call for strongest condemnation by one and all,'' a top Home Ministry official said.

The ministry has asked the Maharashtra government to counter such inhuman and senseless act of violence most sternly and to further intensify search and combing operation in the area to nab the naxalites responsible for the brutal killings.

''The Ministry is constantly in touch with the state government and keeping a close watch on the situation,'' the official said.
