HC quashes ACMM order on CBI probe

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Delhi High Court quashed today an order by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) ordering a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into a case.

Justice BD Ahmed observed that the ACMM order was set aside in view of settled law over the matter.

The CBI counsel cited a Supreme Court ruling to submit that the power to order a CBI inquiry rested with only the Supreme Court or the High Court.

He submitted that a magistrate lacked power to order a CBI inquiry.
