Embezzlement in DEO office Faridabad

Chandigarh, May 17 (UNI) The Haryana administration has detected an embezzlement of over Rs 40 lakh in District Education Office, Faridabad.

Disclosing this here today, School Education Director General K K Khandelwal said financial irregularities of to the tune Rs 4.42 lakh were committed from May, 1997 to August, 1998, Rs 8.38 lakh from August, 1998 to November, 1999 and Rs 32.07 lakh from November, 2000 to March, 2005 by different officials of the Department.

A special team of four Audit Experts was deputed from Headquarters for investigation on a tip off that a Superintendent and three officials of District Education Office (DEO) Faridabad had embezzled sports funds to the tune of Rs 14 lakh.

It was found that officials posted in the office of DEO, Faridabad had committed embezzlement and serious financial irregularities through unauthorized purchases worth lakhs of rupees, he added.

They had not adopted the laid down purchase procedures and purchases had not been made even through approved sources, Mr Khandelwal said.

He said the department would take disciplinary action and cases would be registered against the guilty officials.
