Drug peddlars, robbers arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today busted a gang of robbers and drug peddlers by arresting its seven members, including two women, in a raid in downtown city.

Official sources said a gang of burglars and drug peddlers have been active in the city for the past few months.

They said on a specific information, the police today raided several hideouts in the downtown city and arrested seven members, including two women, of the gang.

Some gold ornaments and other articles were also seized from them, the sources said.

The five members -- Mohammad Shafi, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Jan Mohammad Rather, Mohammad Owais Sheikh and Noor Mohammad Dar -- were sent to the Central Jail here.

The two women members -- Sony and her mother Rafiqa -- were sent to the women's police station at Ram Bagh on five-day remand, the sources said.
