Diamond crown, armour for AP temple

Annavaram, Andhra Pradesh, May 17 (UNI) A diamond crown and'kavacham' (armour) will be made for Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, Annavaram Devasthanam Executive Officer M Raghunath said today.

Speaking to UNI here, Mr Raghunath said the crown and the 'kavacham' required five kg of gold to make. The temple already enough gold to make the ornaments.

He said the trust board will soon call for tenders to make the crown and the 'kavacham.' Mr Raghunath also underscored the need for major renovation work on the 115-year-old temple, estimated to cost Rs five crore.Though the funds were available, some issues required to be sorted out before the work began.
