CPI(M) worker killed, another injured in Bengal

Barrackpore, May 17 (UNI) One CPI(M) activist was killed and another critically injured when unidentified miscreants hurled bombs at them in Kamarhati in North 24 Parganas district today.

Police here said some masked miscreants attacked the partymen and hurled bombs indiscriminately, injuring two, including the Bengal Chatkal Mazdoor Union unit secretary, also a CPI(M) member.

Both victims were rushed to Sagar Dutta hospital, where one succumbed to his wounds.

Local CPI(M) MLA Manas Mukherjee rushed to the hospital.

The miscreants were yet to be identified.

A posse of police rushed to the spot to maintain law and order as tension was running high folowing the incident.
