Counselling service launched in Dubai
Dubai, May 17 (UNI) Worried about rising number of suicide cases among Indian workers, a counselling service has been launched in Dubai for the benefit of the million-strong Indian community in Dubai and other emirates.
The service has been launched in collaboration with the Indian Community Welfare Community (ICWC) and professional psychologists as volunteers.
In 2005, 84 Indians had committed suicides while this year the number has climbed to 41 so far.
The Crisis Prevention Programme (CPP) will address the emotional and psychological issues facing Indian residents in the UAE, a consulate official said.
Counsellors would deal with issues such as family conflict, career issues for high school pupils as well as those with suicidal tendencies.
