Check rising prices of essential commodities: Bharghav
New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) Mr Giridhari Lal Bhargav (BJP) today raised in the Lok Sabha the issue of rising prices of essential commodities and asked the government to rein in the spiralling inflation.
The prices of wheat and rice had gone up from Rs 7.5 to Rs 10 and Rs 18 to Rs 30 a kilogram respectively, while the price of sugar had shot up from Rs 18 to Rs 32 a kg, Mr Bhargav said during zero hour.
While 'urad' had gone up from Rs 27 to Rs 55, the cost of other pulses had witnessed a rise of about Rs 10, he said.
As the government was also considering a hike in the prices of petrol and diesel, the poor people, who were already unable to get a full square meal, would be affected further, he said.
