Bangalore, May 17: Karnataka Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy today said he would lead a delegation of Education Ministers of Southern states to New Delhi to pressurise the Centre to bring in a legislation to regulate admissions to professional colleges.

Talking to reporters here, he said he would immediately convene a meeting of Education Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to discuss the issue. ''I am taking the initiative and will be convening the meeting within a week.'' ''Only a Central legislation will help in clearing the present confusion prevailing in the conduct of Common Entrance Test for admissions to professional colleges in the country,'' he said, adding that states need to come together to pressurise the Centre in this regard.

The Supreme Court, in its judgement, had made a mention about the absense of such a Central law, he pointed out.
