BSNL mulls 100 per cent mobile reach by 2007

Aizawl, May 17: Telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Mizoram circle, would enhance its service by providing one hundred percent mobile reach in the state by 2007 to meet the on-going demand for mobile connections.

BSNL officials said about 31 BTS (towers) has been erected across the state to meet the demand and to provide one hundred per cent mobile reach.

There is also a proposal to increase the capacity of the Wireless and Local Loop (WLL) from the existing version to meet the clarity mobile reach even to the remote parts of the state.

Besides this, 12 small exchange connectivity around the state would be replaced by digital media for better clarity of communication and the existing digital microwave system (DMW) in the other exchanges would be upgraded to 32 megabyte.

With the 80 per cent Optic Fibre Cable (OFC) laying work completed, the broadband internet service would also be provided very soon, they informed.

The equipments for the broad brand were also expected to reach within this month, the officials added.
