Air Chief to visit Eastern Air Command

Shillong, May 17 (UNI) A F Chief Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi, will arrive at the Eastern Air Command (EAC) headquarters here tomorrow on a two-day visit.

During the visit, the Air Chief will address the EAC Station Commanders' Conference and hold discussions with senior officials including EAC's Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal F H Major.

The two-day station commanders' conference of EAC, starting tomorrow, will discuss issues related to operations, maintenance and administration of the force.

The EAC, one of the five operational commands of the Indian Air Force (IAF), covers more than 3,00,000 sq km area encompassing 12 states that also include the North East.

It safeguards the skies over 6,300 km of international boundaries with China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. The command carries out operational training of young fighter pilots of the IAF and it's Helicopter and transport fleet provide extensive logistic support in the remote areas of the North East to the army and other civil agencies.
